The 19-story sail-shaped garden-styled Xinghai (star-sea) Building that integrates conventions and exhibitions, business, catering, and healthcare opened Aug 29 at the Zhuhai Holiday Resort Hotel.

The Xinghai Building has 203 deluxe guestrooms and an open-air swimming pool atop an 8,300-sq-m (2-acre) three-floor wellness center equipped with fitness halls, badminton and basketball courts, and yoga and aerobics rooms. It is located west of the original five-star Holiday Resort Hotel between East Shihua Road and South Lovers Avenue in Jida.

Other fitness and recreational facilities include an indoor constant-temperature natatorium, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, snooker rooms, and karaoke.

The hotel can offer 3,000 people catering services with Guangdong-Cuisine, Flavored, All-Day Dining, and French-Styled restaurants, a café and bar, five multifunctional banquet halls, and more than 30 medium and small-sized conference halls. 

The wide use of glass curtain walls provides open views of the South China Sea, Shihua Mountain, lakes, and gardens, according to Lu Bin, deputy general manager of the Zhuhai Holiday Resort Hotel.

The time-honored hotel opened Oct 1, 1984. It is regarded as China's first five-star hotel for leisure, vacations, conferences, business gatherings, wedding receptions, and tourism.

Renovation and transformation of the hotel commenced in late 2018. Phase I of the project also includes a new northern entrance with water landscapes and greenery on East Shihua Road that opened last August, and four stand-alone commercial buildings that are now under construction. The second phase will include a complex integrating a Grade-5A office building, mid-to-high-end commercial plaza, boutique hotel-style office areas, and a gas station.
