Jitimen Bridge resumes operation with higher-level facilities
Jitimen Bridge in Jinwan District resumed operation on May 6, one month ahead of schedule, after emergency repair of its southern and northern parts that began in July 2021. Traffic pressure on Zhuhai Avenue will be relieved during peak hours while oversize vehicles no longer need to make detours.

The 996-m (1,089-yd) bridge has two-way six lanes, and has been in service for 29 years. An inspection made in mid-2021 founded that reinforcement fractures and through-wall cracks had occurred on the box girder plates of its southern half, posing serious security risks.
Pre-stressed cables were installed on its box girders and all bridge bearing were replaced. Crash barriers were also installed to provide extra protection for drivers and the bridge in case of accidents.
High-viscosity asphalt paving and anti-slip color ceramic particles on sidewalks will bring a more comfortable travel experience for both motorists and pedestrians.
