Ten major Zhuhai-based biomedical enterprises were showcased at the Second China Medical & Health Brand Exhibition in Macao, which took place from Oct 20 to 22.

The Zhuhai delegation was led by Guangdong Zhuhai Jinwan Biopharma National Foreign Trade Transformation and Upgrading Base. It aimed to expand their markets in Macao, Portuguese-speaking countries, and RCEP member countries, as well as to enhance communication and cooperation with leading enterprises in the big health industry. 

This year's event focused on technological innovation, industrial upgrading, and crossover integration in traditional Chinese medicine and big health. A total of 110 outstanding industrial enterprises were invited, as well as industrial leaders and experts to explore the establishment of an innovation ecosystem for the modern TCM and health industry.

Among the 10 delegation members were United Laboratories, Rundu Pharma, Ushare Medical, and Zhuhai Tongyuan Pharmaceutical. They reached out to agencies, purchasers, as well as end users from Guangdong, Zhuhai, and Macao during the expo. 

The biomedicine and health industry is one of the four leading industries of Zhuhai. The city has basically formed an industrial pattern centered on the pharmaceutical industry and supported by the medical device industry. 

The added value of Zhuhai's biomedical industry in the first eight months of 2022 reached 6.75 billion yuan ($930.7 million), with a year-on-year increase of 16.1 percent, which was 8.6 percentage points higher than the growth rate of Zhuhai's total industrial added value.

The city's biomedical and big health industry has been bolstered by its deeper integration in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's medical industry. For example, China released policies at the end of June, allowing pharmaceutical marketing authorization holders in Hong Kong and Macao to carry out sub-contract production in mainland cities of the Greater Bay Area, as well as allowing medical device registrants in Hong Kong and Macao to be eligible to produce medical devices in enterprises based in the aforementioned cities.

These policies have been considered by Zhuhai enterprises as positive for the in-depth integration of the biomedical industry in the Greater Bay Area that will promote the industry's high-quality development.
