Suzhou embroidery

Suzhou embroidery is the general name of embroidery products made in the Suzhou area of Eastern China. As one of the excellent traditional Chinese folk crafts, Suzhou embroidery originated in Wuxian county in Suzhou city, and has spread across the cities of Wuxi, Changzhou and others. Embroidery is also known as silk embroidery since it is closely related to the sericulture and silk reeling.

During the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), four famous Chinese embroideries from four regions were established, known as the “Suzhou embroidery, Hunan embroidery, Guangdong embroidery and Sichuan embroidery”. The Qing Dynasty is the heyday of Suzhou embroidery had various genres and many masters. Suzhou embroidery with rich local characteristics boasts beautiful design, ingenious conception, meticulous craft and elegant colors.
