Nut-carving

Suzhou nut-carving is the carving art on the fruit core. The size of engraved nut is shorter than three centimeters, and not larger than the palm. It is superior to other crafts due to its small size.

Suzhou's nut-carving has won all the five gold medals at the first national folk nut-carving competition, sponsored by the national folk literature and art center of the Ministry of Culture in 2013. The outstanding performance of the Suzhou nut-carving once again aroused people’s attention to the Suzhou carvings, what’s more, Suzhou nut-carving with hundreds of years of handicraft became well known to the public. So far, Suzhou nut-carving, the ancient skill, has been reinvigorated and rejuvenated by the contemporary nut-carving craftsmen.
