2019 China Embroidery Design Trend, the first research into trends in embroidery design in the world, was released at the opening ceremony. The research is meant to make traditional embroideries continue to innovate and enter daily life.
The awarding ceremonies for the Chinese Embroidery Innovation Works Contest and the Undergraduates' Embroidery Design Contest and Youth Creative Design Week were held at the opening ceremony. The contests attracted more than 300 designers and collected 389 works.
An international forum about the innovation and future of Suzhou embroidery also took place on the same day, which invited designers from Northern Europe and Sweden to discuss the Suzhou embroidery's art form, elements and creative imagination.
The Embroidery Art Festival has two sub-activities: a contemporary Chinese and foreign embroidery art exchange exhibition and a Ming and Qing Dynasty embroidery art exhibition.
