Hohhot to boost cloud computing for further development

2018-11-01

As the largest cloud computing data center of China and even Asia, Hohhot, in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has introduced mobile operators China Telecom, China Unicom and China Mobile to construct cloud computing data centers in the city in recent years.

At present, the installed capacity of servers in the data centers has reached 700,000. It is estimated that the number of servers will reach 3.68 million after the completion of three major data centers.

In 2016, Inner Mongolia autonomous region was approved as the National Big Data Infrastructure Comprehensive Experimental Zone. In view of its superior climatic conditions, geological conditions and transportation advantages, Hohhot becomes the major development base for big data industry in Inner Mongolia.

Three tech giants Baidu, Alibaba, Tencent, more than 57 well-known internet companies, as well as large enterprises and institutions at home and abroad have established cloud computing bases in Hohhot.

The city has also put four Sino-Russia, Sino-Mongolia international optical cables into operations, connecting China to Russia and Europe.

Hohhot has continued to use its location advantages in developing the big data industry, encouraging the expansion and integration of big data with other industries and driving the development of the local economy.

Since 2017, Hohhot has been integrating large data, cloud computing, and Internet of Things (IoT) technology with local industries, and formed a safe and controllable industrial internet ecosystem that uses data to make manufacturing more efficient.

In the next few years, the city will build itself as a China Cloud Computing Valley to serve the entire country.
