The groundbreaking ceremony for China dairy giant Yili Group’s Modern Smart Health Valley was held in Tumd Left Banner of Hohhot, capital city of North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region on June 17, according to local officials.
They said the project was Yili’s response to the call by the governments of Inner Mongolia and Hohhot for the revitalization of the dairy industry and to speed up the development of the dairy industry's entire industry chain.
The Modern Smart Health Valley project comprises a Chilechuan ecological demonstration farm project and a supporting cow breeding base.
After the farm is completed, officials the number of dairy cows will reach 300,000, which will meet the demand for 6,500 metric tons of milk from the health valley.
The National Dairy Cow Breeding Base that will support the farm is currently the largest dairy breeding base planned to be built in China. Officials said it will be an international first-class, high-standard dairy breeding technology system and platform.
They added that after reaching peak operating levels, it will produce more than 500 excellent breeding bulls every year, which will comprehensively improve China’s core competitiveness and international influence in the dairy industry.
On the same day, a signing ceremony for Yili Xiaokang project -- a project to help Tumd Left Banner lift out of poverty -- also took place, officials added.
