Hohhot in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region has kicked off a month of activities designed to boost consumption, with a launch ceremony held on Sept 9, according to local media reports.
During the event, a number of themed activities will be held throughout the city in areas including life services, quality brands and specialty food, leading to a sustained market recovery and setting off an accelerated new upsurge in consumer spending.
The event is being held in response to the national month-long consumption promotion campaign launched by the Ministry of Commerce, which aimed to consolidate the recovery in spending, enhance the vitality of market players, and stabilize industrial and supply chains. A total of 179 cities across the country will participate in the event.
Hohhot launched a 100-day consumption promotion campaign back on April 5 in order to promote consumption in the city, and it also started the 2020 Hohhot Consumption Season campaign from early August.
As of the end of August, through measures such as the issuance of consumer coupons, Hohhot saw the total retail sales of consumer goods rebound by nearly 15 percent.
