Hohhot reports growth in foreign trade from Jan-April

The total value of imports and exports in Hohhot, capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, stood at 5.91 billion yuan ($926 million) in the first four months of 2021, a year-on-year growth of 4.8 percent, according to Hohhot customs.

The import trade value was 3.45 billion yuan, a slight decrease of 3.8 percent. The export trade value was 2.46 billion yuan, a substantial increase of 19.7 percent.

Regarding the type of trade being undertaken, Hohhot is dominated by general trade imports and exports.

In the first four months of this year, the general trade import and export value of Hohhot city was 5.67 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.7 percent, accounting for 95.8 percent of Hohhot's foreign trade import and export value during the period.

In terms of of trading countries, New Zealand, the United States, Mongolia, and Sweden are the main trading partners of Hohhot, with the total trade value to the four countries accounting for 60.8 percent of the city's total foreign trade volume.

The imports and exports of private enterprises showed rapid growth.

In the first four months of this year, the import and export value of private enterprises was 3.33 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 174.5 percent, accounting for 56.3 percent of the city's foreign trade import and export value.

In terms of commodity structure, imports are primarily dairy products, mechanical and electrical products, pulp and paper products; exports are mainly high-tech products, basic organic chemicals, medical materials and medicines.
