The city of Hohhot – capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – has reportedly been continuously optimizing its regional innovations system and the layout of its construction as an innovations highland.
Moreover, it is making great strides in developing itself into a regional science and technology innovations center, according to local media reports.
Hohhot has researched and implemented key initiatives for sci-tech innovation in the city and put together the "Three-Year Action Plan for Building a Regional Science and Technology Innovation Center in Hohhot (2022-2024)".
The plan highlights that the Jinshan High-tech Zone will be built into the core area of the national independent innovation demonstration zone in the Hohhot-Baotou-Ordos city cluster. The Horinger New Area in Hohhot will be built into a demonstration area for the commercialization of sci-tech achievements in the autonomous region and be a talent sci-tech innovations center.
The city will also build national-level R&D platforms, such as the Dairy and Grass Seed Technology Innovation Center.
In January 2022, the National Dairy Technology Innovation Center was developed under the approval of the Ministry of Science and Technology. To date, 440 million yuan ($61.83 million) in funds has been spent on the center. Some 45 member units – including universities, research institutes, and industry enterprises – have been involved in the project and seven academicians and more than 80 industry experts have been recruited.
The Yili Global Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park – part of Yili Future Intelligence and Health Valley – officially started operation on July 12 in Hohhot. This is the latest in a raft of key projects for Yili Future Intelligence and Health Valley that have now been completed and gone into use.
