Sun Chuanfan, deputy director of the Rural Science and Technology Department of the Ministry of Science and Technology, visited the National Dairy Technology Innovation Center on Feb 4.

The National Dairy Technology Innovation Center is located in the core area of Yili Future Intelligence and Health Valley in Hohhot, capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

The center got approval for construction from the Ministry of Science and Technology in January, 2022, and is expected to be put into operation in 2023.

The center is expected to bring together domestic and foreign dairy innovation resources, use cutting-edge technology to solve technical problems in the dairy industry, and promote the development of China's dairy sector.

It is the only innovative research and development platform in the world that integrates forage planting, dairy cow breeding, dairy farming, pasture management, dairy processing, crowd nutrition, and risk prevention and control of the entire industry chain.

At present, the center has recruited more than 50 members, including industry enterprises, universities and scientific research institutions. It has also gathered nine academicians and more than 90 industry experts.

The center has invested 700 million yuan ($103 million) to carry out 45 research projects that focus on dairy cow breeding, the development of functional raw materials, dairy technology and equipment, and product quality.
