Hohhot agriculture demonstration zone leads way forwards
The Tumd Left Banner National Modern Agriculture Demonstration Zone is on a roll – promoting adjustments to the planting structure and upgrading the banner by building a modern forage technology park that will lead the way in the development of the agricultural industry in the region.
The demonstration zone, located in Tumd Left Banner – in Hohhot city, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – was approved by the Ministry of Agriculture in 2015.
In 2021, it was recognized as the Hohhot Agricultural Science and Technology Demonstration Base by the municipal science and technology bureau.
The industrial park has implemented the high-quality forage planting plan and the facility agricultural planting plan and developed itself into a research and practice base for students, effectively helping with rural revitalization.
In order to create a modern forage science and technology park, the agriculture demonstration zone has boosted its cooperation with universities, scientific research institutes and leading enterprises in the agriculture sector.
Moreover, it has introduced advanced technologies in planting, production and processing.
The demonstration zone has reached an agreement with Inner Mongolia Agricultural University to jointly carry out scientific research, demonstration planting and technology promotions. The two will jointly build a national modern agricultural industrial technology system experimental demonstration base.
Currently, there are four glass multi-span greenhouses in the zone, with a greenhouse area of 52 mu (3.5 hectares). Some 23 varieties of four categories of northern deciduous fruit trees are planted in the sheds, mainly used for sightseeing and fruit-picking.
This year, the demonstration zone plans to reapply to be an establishment project for the National Modern Agricultural Industrial Park.
