Representing China, athlete Hailigan from North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – along with national teammates Li Jiaman and An Qixuan – won a well-deserved silver medal on Oct 6 in the finals of the women's recurve archery team event at the ongoing 19th Asian Games.
The games, which wind up on Oct 8, are being held in host city Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province.
Recurve is a traditional bowstyle used at the Olympics while compound archery is a modern invention and is not an Olympic discipline. For recurve archery events, the target is set at a distance of 70 meters in standard competitions while in compound archery, the target is set 50m away from the archer.
Facing tough competition from the South Korean team – comprising Lim Si-hyeon, Choi Mi-sun and An San – the Chinese team fought valiantly but was unable to defeat their opponents.

Although falling short of the gold, China's performance in the women's recurve archery team event was widely praised. Hailigan showed her exceptional skills on the field, demonstrating precision and accuracy in her shots. The Chinese team also displayed great teamwork and coordination, making the match an intense battle until the very end.
The dedication and hard work of the athletes is said to serve as an inspiration for aspiring archers across the country. As the Asian Games continue, Chinese sports fans eagerly anticipate more remarkable performances from their athletes in individual and team events.
