Hohhot – capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – conducted a special promotion for its winter tourism offerings at an event in Beijing on Nov 11.
The event showcased Inner Mongolian cultural and tourism resources and investment projects through presentations, investment opportunities, live streaming sales and artistic performances.
Five leagues and cities, including Hulunbuir, signed cultural and tourism project cooperation agreements worth 5.29 billion yuan ($724 million) with key Beijing enterprises.
The Cultural and Tourism Department of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region – as well as Hohhot, Hulunbuir, Hinggan League, Chifeng, Xiliin Gol League, Ulaanqab and Bayannuur – each conducted a dedicated winter tourism promotions session at the event.
According to reports, this year tourism between Beijing and Inner Mongolia has surpassed expectations. In the first three quarters, the 2023 target set by the Beijing-Inner Mongolia Cooperation Tourism Doubling Plan has already been achieved, with over 12 million visitors exchanged.
In recent years, Inner Mongolia has focused on promoting ice and snow tourism and developing its related ice and snow industries.
It's created a variety of ice and snow experience products – including folk customs activities, tours of natural landscapes, winter sports and leisure and wellness activities.
Some popular winter events include the Nadam Fair, Winter Heroes Games, the Ice Fishing Festival, Ice and Snow Festival and the Silver Winter Camel Culture Festival.
