Hohhot economy maintains momentum with key sector growth
According to the city's statistics bureau, Hohhot's economy demonstrated steady recovery and sustained growth from January to October. This progress reflects the city's firm strides toward high-quality development.
Industrial production maintained stable growth, with significant contributions from key sectors. The added value of large-scale industries grew by 9.1 percent year over year. Among the 29 major industrial categories, 19 reported increases, accounting for 65.5 percent of industries. Notably, gas production and supply, chemical manufacturing, power and heat generation, food production, and petroleum refining contributed over 70 percent of the total growth, collectively boosting large-scale industrial growth by 10.7 percentage points.
In the trade sector, retail sales reached 100.39 billion yuan ($13.88 billion), up 4 percent year-on-year. The automobile sector showed accelerated growth, with new energy vehicles leading with a 47.6-percent increase, significantly contributing to overall retail figures.
Service industries showed steady improvement, with operating revenue up by 12.1 percent. The scientific research and technical services sector recorded a remarkable growth of 81.1 percent, its highest this year.
Investment surged by 17 percent. This was driven by high-tech services, which grew by 95.1 percent, and major projects, which contributed nearly 60 percent. Industrial technology upgrades saw a notable 240 percent increase, further bolstering the city's economic resilience and growth trajectory.
