The 2025 Hohhot Spring Festival celebrations kicked off on Saishang Old Street in Yuquan district on Jan 22. Various activities offered both residents and tourists a diverse and engaging experience.
The event featured a variety of cultural performances, with the opening folk music ensemble "Dance of the Golden Snake" instantly igniting a festive spirit. Programs such as the song-and-dance "Falling in Love with the Grassland, Falling in Love with You" and the performance "Northern Frontier Qingcheng, Stunning Scenery" captivated the audience.
The event also hosted a vibrant cultural market divided into six themed sections. Visitors enjoyed demonstrations of intangible cultural heritage skills like morin khuur crafting and Inner Mongolian medicinal incense making, as well as exhibits like "New Life, New Style, and New Year Paintings".
Local delicacies such as shaomai dumplings and dairy products were showcased alongside festive goods for sale, while services like free haircuts and traditional Chinese medicine therapy were attractive perks.
People from near and far participated enthusiastically in writing Spring Festival couplets, making paper-cut window decorations, sharing blessings, and making dumplings together. Ulan Muqir performers and cultural volunteers further enhanced the festivities with flash mob performances of "Dance of the Golden Snake to Celebrate Spring" and folk activities like stilt walking and dragon dances.
The celebrations also featured multiple sub-venues across the city, ensuring that everyone was immersed in the rich traditions and festive joy of Spring Festival.
