Ordos has used both traditional media and micro blogs, and instant messaging services such as WeChat to publicize moving moral stories. Traditional folk festivals and diverse new cultural events have also enriched the lives of local residents and provided entertainment for visitors.
Local authorities have worked to guarantee better public cultural services. To date, more than 7,000 volunteers in the city have played an important role in helping grassroots organizations host cultural activities, local officials said.
Each banner and district in Ordos earmarks between 1.5 million yuan ($225,181) and 3 million yuan a year to purchase cultural products, sponsor cultural events and expand the city's public cultural network.
Local governments in Ordos also purchase newspapers and magazines, including Ordos Daily, and provide them to public venues such as schools, squares, parks, hospitals and markets.
