According to a list of the top 100 universities in China for candidates in 2014, which was released by “Go to Universities”, Xiamen ranks 10th among the top 100 literature and history universities for candidates, and took the 19th place in the category of top 100 science and engineering universities for candidates.

The survey was conducted in 10 provinces with the highest number of college entrance exam candidates. The result was concluded after choices were made by 4.86 million candidates within the 10 provinces, and was divided into two categories-literature and history, and science and engineering.

Xiamen is the only university in Fujian province that made it into the top 10 in the literature and history category. Fuzhou University ranked 74th and 91st in the literature and history category and science and engineering category.

The survey showed that the top 10 literature and history universities for candidates are Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, Renmin University of China, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Nanjing University, Zhejiang University, Shanghai University of Finance, Wuhan University and Xiamen University. And the top 10 science and engineering universities for candidates are Peking University, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Fudan University, Peking University Health Science Center, Medical Center of Fudan University, Renmin University of China, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine and Nanjing University.
