More rain and floods hit Fujian province during the rainy season this year, according to the provincial flood control and prevention headquarters on Oct 22.

A total of 23 rounds of rainstorms have attacked the province, triggering nine serious floods.

The precipitation in Fujian this year is a little more than normal, but was unevenly distributed, as the northern areas witnessed more rain than the southern areas did.

It is notable that only 6 typhoons affected Fujian this year. And none of them came in August, for the first time in 25 years.

Since September, scarce rain has fallen in Fujian, resulting in droughts of varied levels in many parts. Experts have warned the situation could worsen in the fall.
