The first flight of the newly-established Fuzhou Air is set for October 30 from Fuzhou to Beijing, Southeast Express reported on Oct 22, citing insider sources.

As a result, Fuzhou Air will inevitably vie for a piece of the cake with Xiamen Air at the civil aviation market in Fuzhou.

Fuzhou Air plans to use three aircraft, including a Boeing 737-800, which will be used at the beginning of the company’s operations. It will add two more by the end of the year, the sources said.

Challenging Xiamen Air in Fuzhou is, however, likely to be extremely difficult. Figures show that 24 airlines are running businesses at Fuzhou Airport, with Xiamen Air taking the lion’s share at 40 percent of the airport’s aviation activities.
