Xiamen expected to join World Trade Center Association in 2015

Xiamen is expected to become one of the members of the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) in 2015. The Xiamen Trade Development Association has received approval from the municipal government and is now applying to join the association.

The World Trade Centers Association was established in 1970 and is a nonprofit and nonpolitical organization that aims to promote international investment and trade. It is in charge of over 300 world trade centers in nearly 100 countries, which provide services for hundreds and thousands of members and customers to find suppliers and investment opportunities.

According to reports, the World Trade Centers Association is optimistic about the development of Xiamen.

"Xiamen is a crucial hub between China and the Southeast Asian countries and the Association will take advantage of this to develop the Maritime Silk Road,” Mr. Ghazi Abu Nahl, chairman of the World Trade Center Association, said.

According to Su Yuqun, the president of the Xiamen Trade Development Association, the municipal government will offer great support for the application and will grant the RMB 200,000 needed for membership fees. The city is currently selecting a site for the World Trade Center building.
