According to the Xiamen Municipal Environment Protection Bureau, Xiamen will launch Fujian’s first air-quality forecasting system from January 2015.

With the help of the air-quality forecasts, Xiamen citizens will be able to better schedule their travel plans for the next day and the Xiamen government will be able to better prepare for emergency actions in advance.

To maintain Xiamen’s blue skies and fresh air, the Xiamen government issued a “Plan of Action for Xiamen Air-cleaning (2014-2017)”, setting up 10 relative measures to deal with the air pollution in Xiamen.

The Xiamen government is planning to promote the application of the Micro-irrigation & Spray System and Air-blast Sprayers to improve the city’s air quality. As experimental sites, the Lvcuo construction site of the Xiamen Metro Line 1 has been equipped with Micro-irrigation & Spray Systems and Air-blast Sprayers.

To prevent pollution from the catering industry, the Xiamen government plans to enlarge the concentration area of the catering and entertainment industries, ban illegal barbecue businesses, and set up online cooking oil fume monitoring systems.

Besides, the Xiamen government has made plans to implement a policy of monitoring automobile exhaust gases and before 2015 will eliminate “yellow-label car” registrations that occurred before 2005.
