Xiamen’s T4 to open on Dec 28

Xiamen Airport will hold a Terminal 4 (T4) Open Day on Dec 24 from 9am to 11am and from 2pm to 4pm. It will be the first time for the fourth terminal to be open to the public, and people can enter after registering with their ID cards.

The open day will provide participants with a full service of boarding and deplaning, including boarding pass issuance, security checks, airport lounge, simulated boarding and baggage claim. Volunteers will answers any questions brought up by participants.

The open day aims to smooth things over before T4 goes into operation on Dec 28.

T4 passed a test of huge passenger flows on the afternoon of Dec 15, successfully handling some 2,500 passengers on 21 flights, along with 1,000 pieces of luggage and 63 carloads within one hour from 3 to 4 pm.

The test covered seven major procedures, including the transit between T3 and T4, rescheduling tickets, ground control, registering luggage, cargo security and the T4 parking lot. Thirty emergencies also simulated included an electricity cut, a luggage system failure and large-scale flight delays.
