Xiamen expected to adjust routes for Metro Line 2 and 3

Xiamen Rail Transit Group Limited Corporation is seeking advice for the readjustment of the routes of Xiamen Metro Line 2 and 3, and the final plan will be made after consideration of the suggestions from the public.

The Xiamen Metro Line 2 is expected to be extended from 4.9m to 5.3km, linking Guanyinshan and Wuyuanwan Wetland Park. The number of subway stations for metro line 2 is planned to be increased from 5 to 7.

The metro line 3 is expected to start at Xiamen Railway Station instead of the previously planned Xiamen University. The planned length of the metro line 3 is expected to be reduced from 10km to 6.7km.

The planned extended section for Xiamen Metro Line 2 will start from Tianzhu Mountain and go to to Lukeng in Haicang District. And the planned extended section of metro line 3 will stretch from Wuyuanwan to Xiang’an International Airport.

According to the temporary plan, the Xiamen rail transit network is expected to be connected with 4 rail lines with a length of 147km and 83 stations.
