Fujian cracks down on drug crimes

Police in Fujian have dealt with 2,199 drug-related cases in the past four months and detaining 2,533 suspects with a total of 1.3 tons of drugs of all kinds, according to the Public Security Bureau, on Feb 2.

The bureau said that it conducted a special operation this past October targeting the production, distribution and smuggling of drugs, especially ephedrine.

In November, police in Longyan city caught Xiao Jihe, dubbed the master of ephedrine production in the city of Xiamen, after half a year of searching, an action that made the Top 10 Public Security news stories for 2014.
