Xiamen's exhibition industry generates revenue of RMB 27.6b in 2014

An analysis report on Xiamen’s exhibition industry in 2014 revealed the city hosted 200 exhibitions, covering a total exhibition area of 1,735,000 square meters, last year, a new historical high.

The exhibition industry generated economic revenue of 27.627 billion yuan, 3.911 billion yuan more than last year, a year-on-year increase of 16.5%.

The participants of the exhibitions helped achieve revenue of 2.586 billion yuan, 2.299 billion yuan, 2.049 billion yuan and 1.77 billion yuan for transportation, shopping, accommodation and catering, respectively, for the city.

According to the report, an exhibition was held every two days and 11 conferences were held every day in the city. It played host to 4,177 conferences last year, 31 more than in 2013.

The exhibition industry attracted more than 4.86 million visitors, and 77,402 of them were merchants from more than 150 countries and regions.

In terms of exhibition scale, 7 of the exhibitions had an exhibition area of more than 50,000 square meters and all of them have been held for over 10 times.

Three of the exhibitions in Xiamen have become the world’s largest events in their category, including China (Xiamen) International Fair for Investment and Trade, China (Xiamen) International Stone Fair and China (Xiamen) International Buddhist Items and Crafts Fair.

The city held 114 economy and trade exhibitions last year, and 40 of them were professional exhibitions with an exhibition area of 996,000 square meters, accounting for 57.4% of the total exhibition area in the city.

The 40 professional exhibitions mainly involved 28 industries, including trade investment, stones, automobiles, things of Internet, Buddhist crafts and items, and tea.
