Xiamen launches online school application system

chinadaily.com.cn| Updated: April 1, 2015 L M S

A pilot online point-based school application platform, www.ixm.gov.cn/, was put into operation in Xiamen’s Jimei district on March 24 in an attempt to streamline the process and save time for parents.

Parents who wish to apply to schools for their children are required to register an account on the platform as well as go through the verification by providing ID numbers and bank accounts.

After the registration is completed, the system will require more specific details of the applicants, including a property ownership certificate, resident proof or work certificate for further verification.

Migrant workers are also able to apply to schools via the system by providing personal documents such as social security information, temporary residential permits and work certificates. The system will work out the points and make decisions automatically.

Five other districts in Xiamen will launch such systems on April 16; the application will close on April 30.
