Xiamen quality and technical supervision bureau unveiled a cross-Straits cooperation program for voluntary certification of solar cell products at the 2015 Xiamen Industry Expo on April 13, xinhuanet.com reported.

The solar cells produced by either Taiwan or mainland manufacturers can obtain a validation certificate issued by Taiwan's Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) provided that they pass a test by the Xiamen quality supervision department, said Guo Yongyi, the chief of the bureau.

With the implementation of the cooperative certification program, either mainland producers or Taiwan enterprises producing solar cells in the mainland can get an ITRI certificate after having their products tested in Xiamen, which will save time and cost, replacing the previous customs declaration procedures, Guo explained.
