As the deputy chief of the Liaison Department of organizing committee, Wang Qiongwen led a delegation of seven people and visited Malaysia, the country of honor for the 2014 China International Fair for Investment & Trade (CIFIT) from March 31 to April 3.

Wang visited a number of departments and organizations such as the Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia, Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry of Malaysia and the state government of Malacca. He also held a promotional symposium on April 2 with Li Zhiliang, the deputy chief of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia, at which Lin Guozhang, head of the Associated Chinese Chambers Of Commerce & Industry of Malaysia was present.

In a speech delivered at the symposium, Li Zhiliang said that China and Malaysia were important trading partners.

China has been Malaysia’s largest trading partner for six consecutive years since 2009 and Malaysia is China’s largest trading partner in ASEAN countries. Trade volume between the two countries accounts for 21 percent of the total volume between China and ASEAN countries.

Li said that Malaysia had achieved great success as the host country of last year’s CIFIT and hoped that more Malaysian investors would attend this year’s fair and promote good products to the Chinese market in September. Li also expressed his wishes that more Chinese investors would visit Malaysia and raise trade volume between the two countries to a new height.

The Associated Chinese Chambers Of Commerce & Industry of Malaysia will attend the fair this year, and set Malaysia pavilion – which covers 1,100 square meters – the challenge of increasing cooperation between China and Malaysia in investment and tourism to achieve a “win-win” scenario.

Over 500 Malaysia entrepreneurs attended the event in Xiamen last year to promote Malaysian products, services and investing opportunities, making the city a bright spot of the 18th CIFIT. The activities resulted in the formation of contracts worth 521million dollars.
