Entrepreneurs from Malaysia - the guest country of honor at the 2014 China International Fair for Investment & Trade (CIFIT) - visited the host city of CIFIT in Xiamen, Fujian province, in May.

Tan Sri Datuk Tee Hock Seng, president of Bina Puri, led a delegation composed of 14 other members from the Association Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) to the Xiamen Municipal Conference and Exhibition Bureau (XMCEB). They talked with entrepreneurs from the Xiamen General Chamber of Commerce and local enterprises and visited the Xiamen section of the China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ).

While at the bureau, Wang Qiongwen, director of XMCEB, explained the latest developments of the 19th CIFIT. Tee said that as the guest country of honor at the 2014 CIFIT, Malaysia had “harvested” last year. He added that a number of deals were signed during the four day fair, such as ACCCIM, which signed business deals worth $521 million.

Malaysia will continue to play an active role in the CIFIT this year. An ACCCIM pavilion will be erected and the Malaysia pavilion will cover an area of 1,100 square meters.

During the trip, ACCCIM members visited Shi Jinshan, manager of Golden Bridge United Financial Leasing Co, the biggest private financial leasing enterprise in China. The two groups will jointly finance highway and railway construction projects.

The delegation visited the Xiamen FTZ, where they hoped to set up a Malaysia merchandise pavilion to promote goods from the country, such as white coffee and edible bird’s nests. Bina Puri is an A class building contractor with 38-year work experience. It is a public listed company on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia Berhad and conducts business in civil engineering, building materials, highways, overseas investment and hotel management.
