24/7 service introduced in Xiamen Airport

The Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport will open 24/7 after a trial operation on July 26, according to reports on Wednesday.

The airport will become the fifth in the country to offer all-weather service including customs inspection, quarantine and exit/entry checkups.

In recent years, the airport has handled nearly 180,000 flights per year and 500 flights every day. It has launched 28 international routes with over 500 international flights each week.

The implementation of 24/7 services will lead to more international routes and flights, and make Xiamen an even more important air hub in southeast Asia, authorities said.
