FTZ court takes on first case
Following its induction on August 7, the Xiamen court of the Fujian Free Trade Zone (FTZ) accepted its first case on August 13.
Greating Fortune Container Service Co (G-Fortune), acting as the plaintiff, filed a case against Xiamen Lian Yun Da, a logistics service provider, for default on a container maintenance fee payment.
The two parties are both registered within the Xiamen Area of the Fujian Free Trade Zone. G-Fortune originates from Hong Kong and its business scope extends to container shipping, container maintenance and storage.
Lian Yun Da is a shipping agency that handles domestic business.
According to G-Fortune, it has provided container maintenance service to Lian Yun Da on several occasions without getting paid, which resulted in repayable debt worth 70,000 yuan ($10,952).
After their requests for settling the debt left unanswered repeatedly, G-Fortune now is asking for a compensation including unpaid debt and any interest incurred by the debt.
The Xiamen free trade sub-district court was established to conduct trials on commercial cases, real estate-related cases and intellectual property rights cases.

As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
