296 foreign-invested enterprises established in Xiamen this year

The number of foreign-invested holding enterprises set up in Xiamen totaled 296 during the first seven months of 2015, attracting $2.28 billion in contractual foreign investment, an increase of 0.8 percent from the same period last year. The actually utilized foreign investment amounted to $1.48 billion USD, up by 2.3 percent.

From January to July this year, the contractual and actual investment of Xiamen respectively made up 28.2 percent and 29.7 percent of the total for Fujian Province, ranking second and first in Fujian.

The service industry is the key driver of foreign investment. According to the Xiamen Bureau of Commerce, contractual foreign investment to the service industry increased by 16.7 percent in the first seven months of 2015, occupying 66 percent of total investment. The fastest developing sectors in the service industry included computer services, software services, finance leases, commercial services, and science and technology services.
