Xiamen hotel rates to be capped for international fair

To support the 2015 China International Fair for Investment & Trade, the local authorities in Xiamen, Fujian province have decided to implement limits on hotel rates across the city.

The move will see prices of standard rooms capped at 880 yuan ($137) for five-star hotels, 780 yuan for four-star hotels, 650 yuan for three-star hotels, 380 yuan for two-star hotels, and 800 yuan for non-star-rated hotels.

Price caps for suites in hotels above two-stars and non-star rated hotels will be doubled. The rules will come into effect from Sept 7 to 9.

The Xiamen Development and Reform Commission (XDRC) and Xiamen Tourism Bureau will arrange inspections and handle complaints concerning hotel rates.
