Xiamen government officials visited the China Machinery Industry Federation in Beijing to organize cooperation for the upcoming Xiamen International Industrial Exposition.

The expo is staged in Xiamen in April annually and was inaugurated by China's Commerce Ministry in 1997. The Xiamen convention and exhibition affairs bureau has been responsible for organizing the expo sessions in recent years.

At meeting, held on Jan 27, bureau director Wang Qiongwen gave a presentation highlighting how the Xiamen government has promoted the event, its achievements and the future development strategy for the expo.

Wang Qiongwen sought cooperation with the federation, whose resources and influence in the machinery industry would be of great benefit to the Xiamen International Industrial Exposition.

Wang Ruixiang, the president of the federation, gave his assurances that as both parties had worked together previously, the federation would try its best to assist the Xiamen government with the future expo sessions.

Wang Ruixiang stressed that the federation is not looking at simply a few successful exhibitions at the expo, instead, it aims to use the expo to reach out to the machinery industry in Taiwan to contribute to cross-Straits economic exchanges.

About cooperating to organize the expo, Wang Ruixiang was clear on several points:

First, the federation will not just be a nominal partner. It wants to engage in the planning and organizing of the future expo sessions.

Second, the federation plans to invite its member enterprises to the expo as visitors and is considering organizing a delegation of procurers to visit the expo.

Third, the federation plans to host a themed forum at this year's expo.

Fourth, the federation is considering integrating the cross-Straits machinery industry talkfest into the expo sessions in the future. The talkfest has been organized by the federation and the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry.

Fifth, the federation's own exhibition affairs division will join the 2017 expo's organizing team.
