Xiamen-Europe cargo route runs for a whole year

The Xiamen-Chengdu-Europe block train route has delivered more than 20,000 tons of cargo after one year in operation, according to the Nancang Railway Administration, which oversees the railway operation in Jiangxi and Fujian provinces.

Launched on Aug 16, 2015, the 12,700 kilometers cargo route starts at Xiamen in Fujian province, and runs westbound to Chengdu in Sichuan province. It leaves China at the Alataw Pass in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, and runs through Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus, before reaching Lodz in Poland.

The entire route takes 15 days covering the Southeast, Southwest and Northwest regions of China, and runs on through Central Asia, before terminating in Eastern Europe.

The route was operated once a week at first, and has increased to twice a week since March 2016.

Food, clothes, electronics and equipment for light industry make up the cargo transported from China. Most of the cargo is sourced from Fujian, Guangdong, Jiangxi, Zhejiang and Taiwan . These products can be delivered to major European cities within two days of being unloaded in Lodz, Poland.
