2017 Xiamen Int’l fair, XMIE promoted across Strait

A conference was held in Taipei on Feb 21 to promote the 2017 Xiamen International Fair for Investment & Trade and Xiamen International Industrial Exposition (XMIE) 2017, according to a report from chinanews.com.

About 40 representatives from business association and enterprises in Taiwan attended the meeting about cross-Straits economic elements and trades.

2017 Xiamen International Fair for Investment & Trade which will be held from Sept 18 to 21, and will include themed issues such as the "One Belt, One Road" initiative, supply-side structural reform, and a pilot free trade zone. It is intended to be a one-stop service platform for bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

The Xiamen International Industrial Exposition (XMIE), also known as China Xiamen Machinery and Electronics Exhibition (CXMEE), will be conducted from April 12 to 15, and will feature events incorporating exhibitions of mechanical and electrical products, an investment and trade conference, cross-Straits economic and trade forum, along with a series of technical seminars.

Li Rongmin, head of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME) Taipei office, said the fair and the exhibition will be important platforms for cross-Straits exchanges. It would be mutually beneficial for people across the Straits to jointly seek enormous business opportunities and cope with global competition.

Li emphasized the organization’s determination to continue foster Taiwan businesses’ enthusiasm in communication and promotion in the Chinese mainland through critical channels like these Xiamen expos.

XMIE 2017 was reported to set up an exhibition center to showcase the latest findings and progress made by cross-Straits higher educational institutions, and the topic of “intelligent manufacturing” would be debated in major forums by then.

Zheng Fuxiong, vice president of Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association, praised Fujian province for its well-developed machinery sector and expressed his hopes in increasing exchanges at XMIE and reinforce cross-Straits precision machinery industry.

Wang Qiongwen, vice-minister of CIFIT organizing committee’s conference affairs department, and director of the Xiamen Convention and Exhibition Affairs Bureau, called for business communities and individuals in Taiwan to take part in the fair and the exhibition, with a summary of the agreeable conditions Xiamen convention and exhibition industry could create, such as facilities being well established, favorable policies being made, and efficiency in services.
