Approved by the State Council, the bonded port of Haicang in Xiamen, a coastal city in Fujian province, has been listed among the finished automobile import ports, becoming Fujian’s second following the first in Fuzhou, according to the administrative committee of Xiamen Free Trade Zone.

Finished automobile import ports are that may import completed automobiles from abroad. This can reduce the cost of the imported vehicle and simplify customs clearance.

The first group of pilot companies has sold more than 500 parallel-import cars, with sales reaching $29.44 million since Xiamen Free Trade Zone launched the pilot scheme for parallel imports of automobiles in September 2015.

Insiders believe that the establishment of a finished automobile import port in Xiamen will satisfy the vigorous market demand in the city and surrounding areas. It will also facilitate the importing of automobiles through the railway port because European cars may be delivered to Xiamen by China-Europe Trains.

Haicang port, established on June 5, 2008, boasts world-class facilities and supporting conditions for a deep-water container terminal. Twenty-six 10,000 deadweight ton (dwt) berths have been set up to maintain the capacity of over 100 million tons.
