Xiamen welcomes another 10 honorary citizens

Another 10 people were granted the title of honorary citizen by the Xiamen Municipal Government at the awarding ceremony held in the city of Fujian province on Oct 27.

Among the 10 honorary citizens, three come from Taiwan, two from Hong Kong and Macao and the rest are people from other countries, according to the awarding ceremony.

Most of them have lived in the city for more than 10 years, therefore it's like their second home town. During their stay, they have made significant contributions to cross-Straits exchanges, Xiamen's social welfare undertakings, the introduction of advanced technologies and talents, as well as the improvement of the city's business climate.

Xiamen has launched the awarding ceremony since 1996 with the aim of attracting more talents from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and foreign countries.

As of now, a total of 231 people from 22 countries and regions have received such honor.
