During this year's "6.18" e-commerce shopping festival, a shopping spree that runs for 18 days from June 1 every year, Xiamen in East China's Fujian province topped the provincial list in terms of online retail sales and sales volume.

According to Xiamen municipal bureau of commerce, the city's online retail sales reached 1.26 billion yuan ($183.24 million), with a sales volume of 24.212 million pieces -- respectively accounting for 38 percent and 37.1 percent of the province's total -- during the festival.

Statistics show that Tmall, JD and Taobao were the top three online retail platforms in Xiamen. The online retail sales of Tmall reached 990 million yuan, accounting for 78.6 percent of the city's total.

In terms of product type, the top three categories were clothing, daily necessities and beverages.

In recent years, Xiamen municipal bureau of commerce has taken multiple measures to support the development of e-commerce trading platforms, including rewarding enterprises with a certain scale of online retail sales, and subsidizing platforms with publicity, demonstrations and leading roles.
