Xiamen's foreign trade hits 350b yuan in Jan-July period
Imports and exports in Xiamen, eastern Fujian province, hit 349.96 billion yuan ($49.55 billion) in the first seven months of this year for a year-on-year increase of 3.9 percent, statistics from Xiamen Customs showed.
Exports jumped 8.6 percent year-on-year to 198.41 billion yuan while imports slipped 1.7 percent to 151.55 billion yuan in the same period.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the European Union and the United States were Xiamen's three major foreign trading partners from January to July with total import and export volumes of 57.99 billion yuan, 50.08 billion yuan, and 49.42 billion yuan respectively.
Trade with the three partners accounted for 45 percent of the total import and export value over the same period in the city.
Meanwhile, Xiamen's foreign trade with Australia posted the fastest growth with a 22 percent year-on-year increase in January-July period to 21.26 billion yuan.
Mechanical and electrical products were the city's most imported and mechanical, electrical and labor intensive products were its biggest exports over the same period.
