Foreign firms in Xiamen offer support to fight against epidemic

Foreign-funded enterprises in Xiamen agreed to work with the city to support the fight against the novel coronavirus epidemic, according to a news report Feb 6.

More than 10 foreign firms in Xiamen have donated a total of 20.5 million yuan ($2.93 million), which will be used to purchase necessary protective materials such as face masks and protective clothing.

SM Group donated 5 million yuan to the Red Cross Society of China Fujian Branch, and will reduce rent for merchants.

In addition to donating 2 million yuan to Wuhan, the bathroom equipment maker Solux provided emergency supplies for the construction of Fujian's Xiaotangshan-style hospital.

Dell Technologies donated 200 sets of office facilities to hospitals in Wuhan, the epicenter of the virus outbreak in China, aiming to offer sufficient services for doctors and relieve the office pressure on hospitals.

Some foreign-invested firms also offer free services by making good use of their own advantages, such as McDonald's providing free meals to medical staff working on the front line of the battle against the novel coronavirus epidemic.
