Xiamen leads Fujian in digital economy development

The coastal city of Xiamen in East China's Fujian province achieved significant progress developing its digital economy, with many indicators ranking first in the province, particularly the development of e-commerce, digital industrialization and the research and development (R&D) of digital economy.
In accordance with the plan to build a digital China and a smart society, Xiamen has made major efforts to set up a modern industrial system led by digital economy, and accelerated the pace of integrating advantageous industries to build a new center for digital economy in the city.
Digital economy has become a major driving force behind Xiamen's high-quality development, and a solid foundation for digital industry has taken shape in the city. The scale of the digital economy in Xiamen is estimated to exceed 1 trillion yuan ($141.12 billion) in 2021.
Xiamen has cultivated a complete digital economy industrial chain, including industries such as integrated circuits, flat-panel displays, and computer and communication equipment, showcasing the competitive edge of the city in the digital economy sector.
Additionally, Xiamen has established a number of innovative industrial parks, offering a broad space for the R&D of the digital economy.

Xiamen is one of the most economically competitive cities in China and was one of the first Special Economic Zones on the Chinese mainland. As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
