The coastal city of Xiamen in East China's Fujian province is expected to become an important gathering place for headquarters economy in the south-eastern coast of China, according to Hu Changsheng, Party secretary of Xiamen.

Hu made the remarks at the Xiamen Headquarters Economy Development Conference held in the city on Oct 23. He said that Xiamen will make great efforts to promote the high-quality development of its headquarters economy.

The city's superior geographical location and convenient traffic conditions have laid a solid foundation for it to develop the headquarters economy. The city also boasts abundant advantages in policy and scientific manpower, which will offer rich innovative and scientific resources to enterprise headquarters, according to Hu.

Xiamen will continue to optimize its business environment and attract more headquarters projects. The city is expected to introduce more than 100 newly-established headquarters enterprises by the end of 2025, Hu added.

In the future, Xiamen will aim to become a financial hub that targets global markets, a pioneering area focused on the opening-up of the finance industry, a demonstration zone for integrating industry and finance, and an innovative area for fintech and wealth management.

A signing ceremony was also held on Oct 23, with 23 regional headquarters projects valued at 73.6 billion yuan (nearly $11 billion) signed at the event.
