The 2020 Xiamen International MICE Week is set to be held in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, from Nov 27 to 30, according to a press conference held in the city on Nov 23.

Nearly 20 activities, including the Xiamen International MICE Cooperation Forum and the China-Foreign Countries (BRICS plus Emerging Markets) Cooperation Forum, are expected to be held during the event, said Chen Haoying, deputy director of the Xiamen municipal bureau of commerce, at the press conference.

High-profile guests, such as Wei Jianguo, former vice-minister of commerce, Wang Jinzhen, former vice-chairwoman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and David DuBois, chairman of the International Association of Exhibitions and Events, will deliver speeches via live video.

Chu Xiangyin, standing vice-chairman of the China Convention and Exhibition Society, Zhang Min, executive director of the Exhibition Research Institute of Shanghai University, and chairmen of the convention and exhibition associations in more than 30 cities will attend the event in Xiamen to discuss hot topics in the MICE industry.

The MICE event will feature a 4,000-square-meter exhibition area to showcase Xiamen's MICE industry, favorable policies, and renowned MICE companies.

According to Chen, since its inception in 2015, the Xiamen International MICE Week has attracted nearly 5,000 experts involved in the MICE industry from more than 30 countries and regions.

He said that the annual event will be developed into an international MICE marketing platform with international influence and is expected to help Xiamen become a leader in the global MICE industry.

Moreover, an upgraded version of the public information service platform for the MICE industry in Xiamen was released that same day in order to offer more efficient and comprehensive MICE-related services.

People can use the platform to explore Xiamen's environment for holding exhibitions and conferences and its business environment by viewing the platform's detailed information about two large professional exhibition venues, 135 starred hotels, and nearly 200 MICE service agencies.
