White paper explains Xiamen's livestream e-commerce industry

Xiamen's livestream e-commerce industry is developing steadily, according to a white paper on the industry that was released on Sept 9.

The white paper showed that Siming district accounts for about 45 percent of Xiamen's e-commerce online retail sales, followed by Huli district with about 28 percent, and Jimei district with about 13 percent. Jimei district was ranked first in terms of growth rate, up 52.7 percent year-on-year in the first half of this year.

Textile products like clothing, shoes, and hats accounted for 45.4 percent of online retail products, followed by commodities.

Online catering retail sales topped non-physical retail sales, with an annual retail sales approaching 10 billion yuan ($1.55 billion), taking up about 40 percent.

Xiamen's e-commerce retail sales were mainly distributed in Tmall, accounting for nearly 40 percent of sales among all platforms, followed by Taobao, JD, and Pinduoduo.

In addition, the white paper also showed the research and analysis on Xiamen's multi-channel network institutes. Such companies have been emerging in Xiamen since 2010 and have been increasing.

The MCN industrial base in Huli district is home to 25 large, medium, and small-sized shared livestreaming rooms, as well as 50 enterprise exclusive livestreaming rooms.
