Xiamen in Fujian province was included as one of the 30 cities that will pilot the construction of 15-minute living circles, announced the Ministry of Commerce on Oct 11.

The Xiamen municipal bureau of commerce recently released plans to promote the construction of a modern, multi-level, and multi-category 15-minute living circle in 10 pilot communities across six districts, such as Shentian community.

According to the plans, the 10 communities should set up at least 10 15-min living circles every year in order to achieve the city's goal of establishing a batch of convenient, standard, intelligent, and high-quality 15-minute living circles by 2025.

The 15-min living circles are community business circles that are located within a 15-minute walk from residential areas. They include multiple business forms, such as supermarkets, farmers' markets, breakfast vendors, hair salons, and package pick up stations, which are able to meet residents' daily needs. They also include gyms, cafes, pet shops, senior care facilities, and childcare services to meet residents' special needs.

Xiamen plans to make full use of its inclusion in the pilot construction to build the city into a demonstration area of 15-min living circles.
