IBA Meeting kicks off in Xiamen

The 2021 Annual Meeting of the International Battery Materials Association kicked off in Xiamen, Fujian province on Oct 24, and will run until Oct 29.
Themed "new horizons for batteries and their large-scale applications", the meeting plays a vital role in the promotion of clean energy development in China and around the world.
This year's meeting will focus on secondary batteries, fuel cells, and new special electrochemical energy storage systems. Researchers and experts will discuss core technologies, key scientific issues, and innovative battery experiments.
A total of 250 participants are expected to attend the annual meeting this year. As part of the meeting will be held online, IBA and the main venue of the meeting, the Millennium Habourview Hotel Xiamen, are undergoing equipment debugging with overseas and regional participants, according to a manager of the hotel.
The IBA is an influential platform for academic exchange in the battery material sector. It has held the meeting every year since 1975.
Tianjin municipality and Shenzhen in Guangdong province hosted the annual meeting in 1992 and 2007, respectively.

Xiamen is one of the most economically competitive cities in China and was one of the first Special Economic Zones on the Chinese mainland. As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
