Xiamen's development zones boast comprehensive development in 2020

Fujian province has evaluated the comprehensive development of 97 development zones across the province in 2020.

The evaluation included 57 indicators in six aspects, spanning development scale, land intensity, technological innovation, environmental protection and safety, opening-up and cooperation, as well as management services.

The Xiamen Torch Development Zone for High Technology Industries topped development zones across the province in terms of comprehensive development. The Xiamen Haicang Investment Zone for Taiwan Business ranked third in comprehensive development.

The Xiamen Torch High-tech Zone, Xiamen Haicang Investment Zone, and Xiamen Xiang'an Industrial Park ranked first, fourth, and fifth on the list of actual use of foreign capital.

The evaluation showed that the gross domestic product of development zones across the province was 1.6 trillion yuan ($249.61 billion), up 6.5 percent year-on-year, and accounting for 36.4 percent of the province's total.

The proportion of industrial output of the top three leading industries has increased to 79.4 percent per zone, an increase of 2.1 percentage points over the previous year.

The total amount of foreign investment in actual use among the development zones reached 16.67 billion yuan, accounting for 47.9 percent of the province's total.
